Recover One: Recycled Fibres That Skip the Dyeing

Recover launches Recover One, a collection of recycled cotton and polyester fibres that eliminate overdyeing, saving water and carbon while simplifying textile production.

Recover One: A New Chapter in Recycled Textiles

Spanish textile innovator Recover, backed by Goldman Sachs, has long been a global leader in producing recycled cotton and other circular materials for the fashion industry. Now, the company is expanding its portfolio with the launch of Recover One, a collection of fibres made entirely from recycled materials. What sets this range apart is its ready-to-use nature: unlike conventional recycled fibres, Recover One requires no traditional dyeing processes before it can be turned into yarns or fabrics.

Eliminating a Costly and Polluting Step

For years, the textile industry has relied on overdyeing to achieve consistent colours in recycled yarns. This step is necessary because recycled cotton arrives in a patchwork of shades, making it difficult to produce uniform fabrics. Recover One sidesteps this by pre-harmonising the colours of the raw materials sourced from textile waste. The result is a chromatically and materially homogeneous blend that can be spun directly into yarn or woven into fabric, all without the need for additional dyeing.

By removing overdyeing, Recover simplifies production for yarn manufacturers and optimises their sales to garment makers. More importantly, it slashes the environmental footprint of the entire value chain. According to life-cycle assessments verified by the consultancy EcoReview in 2022 and 2025, Recover’s recycled cotton fibres already save up to 99% of water and up to 93% of carbon emissions compared with conventional cotton. Recover One pushes these savings further by eliminating the dyeing stage altogether, though the company has not yet released specific figures for the additional reductions.

Designed for Comfort and Durability

Recover One fibres blend Recover’s recycled cotton with recycled polyester in varying proportions to create a versatile range of yarns and fabrics. Depending on the mix, the products suit applications from lightweight single jersey to warm fleece garments. Despite the recycled content, the fabrics offer the softness, smoothness, and performance of conventional cotton-polyester blends, making them suitable for a wide array of clothing.

Crucially, the fibres are sold ready to use, either as spun yarn or as finished fabric. This eliminates a production step that traditionally adds time, cost, and environmental impact. As Enes Adak, co-chief executive officer and chief product officer of Recover, explains: “With Recover One, we make it easier for brands and manufacturers to use recycled materials on a large scale. By combining our recycled cotton with recycled polyester, we offer a homogeneous blend that simplifies production and helps to reduce costs. This advance combines sustainability and business value.”

A Practical Path to Circularity

The launch of Recover One reflects a broader shift in the textile industry towards circularity. Brands are under increasing pressure to adopt recycled materials, but practical hurdles – inconsistent colour, limited availability, and higher processing costs – often stand in the way. Recover One addresses these challenges head-on by delivering a consistent, high-quality input that requires no extra dyeing.

For spinners, the benefit is a streamlined process and a more attractive product to sell. For garment makers and brands, it means access to sustainable fabrics without compromising on quality or breaking the bank. And for the planet, it means fewer resources consumed and less pollution generated.

Recover’s move also signals a growing maturity in the recycled textile market. With the backing of Goldman Sachs, the company has the resources to scale its innovations and drive adoption across the industry. The launch of Recover One is a clear statement that recycled materials can meet the demands of modern manufacturing – and do so profitably.

As the fashion industry grapples with its environmental impact, solutions like Recover One offer a tangible way forward. By turning textile waste into beautiful, durable fabrics without the need for overdyeing, Recover is proving that sustainability and commercial success can go hand in hand.
