Asics Gel-Nimbus 29: Softer FF Luxe Plus Foam Debuts
Asics launches the Gel-Nimbus 29 with new FF Luxe Plus foam, PureGel heel and redesigned wave sole. Worldwide release from 1 December.
A new era of softer cushioning
The 29th generation of Asics’ flagship cushioned trainer has arrived. The Gel-Nimbus 29 introduces FF Luxe Plus, a lightweight foam that the brand says makes the shoe noticeably softer underfoot. This update sits at the heart of the new model, which is designed for runners seeking plush comfort over long distances.
The Gel-Nimbus 29 will be available worldwide from 1 December.
Redesigned sole and upper
Alongside the new foam, the shoe features a reshaped sole with a wave pattern on the underside. This design is intended to compress more effectively, enhancing the soft feel. Asics has also incorporated its PureGel technology in the heel to absorb shock on landing.
The upper is constructed from a new engineered mesh, complemented by a knitted tongue, a ribbed collar and a pull tab. The Hybrid AsicsGrip outsole offers more rubber coverage than the previous model, improving traction and durability. The shoe weighs approximately 279 grams for men and 238 grams for women.
Design inspired by clouds and classical art
The design concept, named ‘Soaring Cloud’, draws on the movement of clouds and the lines of classical Japanese painting. This artistic influence is reflected in the shoe’s flowing aesthetics, blending performance with cultural heritage. According to Asics, the Gel-Nimbus 29 has a carbon footprint of 11.4 kilograms of CO2 equivalent per pair, highlighting the brand’s ongoing efforts to reduce environmental impact.
Commitment to comfort
“The Gel-Nimbus series has always been synonymous with comfort. For its latest evolution, we focused on creating an even more plush and uplifting experience for runners,” said Laura Bolgen, director of global product, performance running footwear, at Asics.
With its softer foam, enhanced outsole and thoughtful design, the Gel-Nimbus 29 continues the line’s reputation for delivering a comfortable ride. Runners can look forward to experiencing the latest iteration from 1 December.
